So what are you putting up with right now?
I'm sure at some time in your life you were in a situation where you had a small stone or something else hard in your shoe that wasn’t meant to be there, but instead of going to the trouble of taking off your shoe and then removing the offending item you kept on walking, perhaps in the hope that it would shift and find its way to some place within your shoe that would not cause you so much ‘grief ’.  In the end, when the item eventually caused you so much pain you could no longer stand it then finally you removed the shoe and the item within it and then wondered just why the hell you hadn't done it sooner?

Well the above is a wonderful metaphor for what we so often do in life and it leads me neatly on to one of my favourite sayings:

“Whatever you tolerate you get more of”!

For example, if you put up with being bullied then you can be pretty sure that you will suffer more bullying.  In fact most mature people know that best way to stop a bully is to simply stand up to them (i.e. signify your intolerance).  Similarly then, if you suffer the bad behaviour of others in silence then you are almost certain to ensure even more such bad behaviour is repeated and imposed upon you.

Something within us snaps
In many cases just like the pebble in the shoe we put up with something we don’t want in our lives until eventually something within us snaps and then we take massive action to remedy the situation.

Examine the details behind any revolution in the history of mankind
But don’t take my word for it, just examine the details behind any revolution in the history of mankind and you will discover and see the simple truth that when tolerance changes to intolerance it almost always causes a monumental change to the conditions and standards in which we live our lives.

So yes, tolerance is a good thing but it’s vitally important to understand and recognise that it can also be a bad thing!

Don't wait until you're pushed to the very edge before you show your intolerance
Tolerance can cause you to allow things you dislike and don’t want in your life to happen again and again and again.  So the message is a simple one, don't wait until you're pushed to the very edge before you show your intolerance. Instead simply take action sooner and put yourself out of your misery by deciding right now the things you will no longer put up with.

So take the appropriate action now to signify your newfound and constructive intolerance and just watch how your life changes as a result.
